Max Holloway vs Anthony Pettis at UFC 206
Written by A.G Lee
It looks like UFC fighter Max Holloway will have to fight yet again before he gets anything close to a title shot whether it be the interim featherweight championship title or the actual belt.
This time he gets to fight former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Showtime Pettis at UFC 206 giving the suffering card a little boost of star power in entertainment and name value.
Pettis was last seen taking on Charles Oliveira at UFC on FOX : Maia vs Condit and submitting the rising star in the third round with a guillotine choke. That win finally broke his three-fight losing streak and at a good time as well as the UFC started cutting fighters not too long after.BREAKING: @ShowtimePettis vs @BlessedMMA, @MitchGagnonUFC vs Matthew Lopez added to #UFC206 @AirCanadaCentre ➡️ https://t.co/AGQ4GseBWa pic.twitter.com/IA6WfuyykD— UFC Canada (@UFC_CA) October 26, 2016
Max Holloway on the other hand is on a 9 fight winning streak and was last seen in a barn burner of a fight with former featherweight Championship Challenger Ricardo Lamas at UFC 199.
With interim Champion Jose Aldo figuring out if he wants to stay with the UFC or not, this leaves the UFC featherweight Division and especially Fighters like Max Holloway at a disadvantage. Considering that the champion Conor McGregor has not fought in the division since winning the belt from former UFC kingpin Jose Aldo.
This should be considered as a possible fight for Anthony Pettis to get back into title contention but unfortunately just another potential win for Max Holloway to cement his place as the next title Challenger which he has done so repeatedly already.
