Where Does Former UFC Champ Jose Aldo Go Now?

Written by A.G Lee

The former UFC featherweight Champion Jose Aldo was well on his way to a striking performance win over Max Holloway at UFC 212 in front of thousands of Brazilian fans.

Being the slight favorite in the fight it would have been no wonder if he actually did win in less than impressive fashion over someone like Max Holloway who was the featherweight interim champion and was on the 10 fight winning streak at the time.

Jose Aldo was using crisp striking and fast movement along with fancy footwork to keep Max Holloway away and within striking distance for most of the first second and some of the third round.

That was until Max Holloway wasn't being kept Away by Jose Aldo's footwork and head movement and Holloway caught on to the fact that Jose Aldo even though with crisp jabs and speed seemed to be lacking any real k.o power around the middle of the second round.

Max Holloway did what Max Holloway does and he turned the fight into a brawl seemingly being the tougher of the two fighters after weathering a storm or two from Jose Aldo in the first and for a short time in the 2nd period.

Max Holloway ended up dropping Jose Aldo in the third round and poured on a barrage of ground-and-pound that made sure the Brazilian legend did not get back on his feet.

With more than enough time to defend himself and get back up Jose Aldo never did any of those things and ended up losing his belt Holloway by TKO.

With losing his belt two times in less than a two-year. Where does Jose Aldo go from here?

He can't go down to the bantamweight division where Nova Uniao teammate Renan Barao has finally moved back to. And there's really nothing stopping him from moving to lightweight other than the fact of starting over somewhere in the top 10.

And also the current UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor who also defeated him in a way more brutal fashion that Max Holloway when the two fought at UFC 194.

We can all speculate that with Jose Aldo previously demanding more money from the UFC, that this is probably the particular position that the UFC would want Jose Aldo to be in in order to renegotiate for lower pay.

And with Jose Aldo now in a bind it seems like he either starts all over again in the featherweight division or move to a division that's already stacked and with a champion that is more than likely to beat him again.
