Jon Jones Hints at his Return Date
It looks like Jon Jones is set to come back as he has finally given a return date for his fight. But currently hulking up fighter and former UFC light heavyweight champion has said that his return date will be April 23rd. No opponent has been announced but he has called out current champion Daniel Cormier and stated that he hopes the fight is in New York City. Yes the same NYC that Daniel Cormier refuses to fight John Jones in saying that the champion doesn't deserve it.
"I just think at the end of the day, when Jones gets reinstated, New York is the only place that he'll be welcomed without just venomous anger," Cormier said. "This is where he's from. So they will actually care for him. They will cheer him. Just as you take me to Lafayette, Louisiana, it doesn't matter what I do. They will cheer me."
"I think he's the greatest fighter of all time," Cormier said. "And when he gets cleared to fight, we'll fight. But I'm not gonna fight him in New York. So you guys can write that."
This will set up the highly anticipated rematch between these 2 fighters as the first time around Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier by a hard fought unanimous decision. With both fighters being emotionally drained and agitated at each other during the buildup to the fight even having a brawl on stage at one point in time. Jon Jones was just reinstated to the UFC after his whole hit and run ordeal which he was stripped of his belt for and taking a plea agreement to 40 hrs of community service and 18 months of supervised parole.
Daniel Cormier ended up fighting Anthony Johnson for that belt which Anthony Johnson was supposed to fight Jon Jones for and we all know how that went. Now with the current light heavyweight champion on break after a UD win against Alexander Gustafsson and enough time to prepare himself for the former champion on the return. How do fans think that Daniel Cormier is going to fare against the new and retooled Jon Jones especially when they're coming up with gameplans and tactics at WinkleJohn to beat champions like Ronda Rousey
