It's Time To Let Nate Diaz Go From The UFC For His Own Good.

Nate Diaz Release Request

UFC fan favorite fighter Nate Diaz has officially asked for his release from the UFC an organization that he has been fighting at about 15 years.

Over the course of his history with the UFC has earned around an overall average of 4 million dollars minus sponsorship deals or any back room bonuses and etc. Nate Diaz has been interested in fighting out the last fight on his contract for a while now, previously asking to to fight former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier as his final fight on his contract.

Possibly as a last high profile fight worth the money and matchup that he believes he has earned this late in his career even as dangerous as it is considering Diaz past matchups this high in the rankings. Maybe it's time to let the Stockton native go about his business as it's getting tougher for the UFC to provide noticeable and profitable matchups for the Diaz brother worth higher pay from them in regards to fading UFC fan interest in highly ranked contenders that might outmatch him. As of the current time Nate Diaz is not even ranked in either the lightweight or welterweight division more than likely due to the UFC bias more than anything else. Sounds like a great time for MMA fans especially hardcore Nate Diaz fans to really ask themselves if Nate is as great as they believe he is. But let's be honest here. It's the UFC. Have rankings really ever mattered especially since Conor McGregor stepped into the picture? If the UFC is willing to milk the Diaz name for a high profile fight, more power to them, even at the expense of diminishing the career of Nate Diaz.

No one is going to knock Nate Diaz for his skills, the amount of excitement and eyes that he brings to the UFC. But there have been noticeable pattern flaws in the armor of the tough and always game Diaz brother. The most glaring being prone to battery from heavy handed accurate punchers outside of McGregor and Johnson. The choice to fight the even more heavy handed Dustin Poirier being a questionable decision being highlighted even more so considering that flaw. Nate Diaz definitely has some star power left in him, but with the rise of newer and fresher faces Diaz only has so much time left. That Diaz star power isn't going to hold up much longer with the Khamzats, O'Malleys, Aspinalls, Makhachevs etc on the horizon. It's time to let Diaz go on to make the money he is actually worth even in places that might appreciate his skills and presence more than anything else. Where? How about the PFL or Bellator MMA making millionaires and names out of formerly obscure fighters from other organizations through high profile tournaments? PFL champion Kayla Harrison being a prime example or the rising star in Bellator MMA featherweight champion A.J McKee? Another case in point would be former UFC fighter Paige "Shotgun" VanZant who went on to debut at Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship to the tune of $400,000 along with a multi-million four fight contract there.
Or how about also former UFC fighter Chad money Mendes who reportedly made $500,000 for his debut and they're not cool Fighting Championship?
Also both former UFC champion Tyron Woodly and former UFC fighter and former multi MMA organization champion Ben Askren earning millions to fight youtuber turned boxer Jake Paul?
Nate Diaz has been a staple and the UFC roster and amongst its highly prized star fighters but is it wrong to say it's time for both the UFC and fans to let Nate Diaz go and grab opportunities that actually reflects his real value in the combat sports world. This can be a double positive effect by bringing more star power to other organizations and highlight the need for a revision in fighter pay by the UFC making it a win win all around.
